Get Involved

Conserving the Puyu Sacha cloud forest is a collective effort. There are many ways to take part, from individual support to long-term institutional partnerships. Each of them sustains a different part of our work.

Donate to Conservation

Your contribution sustains the day-to-day work of the reserve: effective territorial protection and patrolling, wildlife monitoring through camera traps and field surveys, the upkeep of trails and research stations, and the continuity of the permanent plots that document how the forest changes over time.

Unlike one-off campaigns, conservation demands constancy. A forest is not protected for a year but across decades, and recurring donations — even modest ones — are what allow us to plan on a long horizon, keep the team in the field, and respond to threats when they emerge.

Every donation goes directly to protecting the ecosystem. We report regularly on how funds are used, in keeping with our commitment to transparency.

Adopt a Species

Symbolic adoption offers a way to connect with a specific species of the cloud forest and support its conservation directly.

You can adopt emblematic or threatened species of the reserve — from primates and amphibians to the orchids and birds that define the cloud forest landscape. Your contribution funds population monitoring of the species you choose, the protection and restoration of its habitat, and the scientific research that helps us understand its role within the ecosystem.

Each adopter receives a symbolic adoption certificate and regular updates on the species: field records, research findings, and photographic material gathered during monitoring. It is a way to follow closely a conservation process that usually remains invisible.

Beyond funding, the programme serves an educational purpose. Each adoption brings a person, a family, or a classroom closer to the reality of a single species and the forest that sustains it, turning an abstract concern for biodiversity into a commitment to something specific and recognisable.

Partner With Us

We welcome collaboration with environmental organisations, universities, research institutions, conservation foundations, and responsible tourism operators.

Puyu Sacha offers its partners an exceptional setting for joint work: a continuous altitudinal gradient between 1,800 and 3,000 metres, more than two decades of accumulated scientific data, a network of permanent plots integrated into international platforms, and field infrastructure reachable by road from Lima.

Partnerships can take many forms — joint research projects, undergraduate and graduate theses, environmental education programmes, restoration initiatives, or the development of nature tourism models that generate real benefits for conservation and for the communities of the valley.

We are more interested in sustained collaboration than in isolated interventions. If your organisation shares that approach, we would like to hear from you.

Volunteering and Research

Students, researchers, and volunteers are welcome to take part in the biodiversity studies and ecological monitoring programmes of the reserve.

Fieldwork includes establishing and re-measuring forest plots, botanical collection and identification, wildlife monitoring, bird censuses, and the systematic recording of ecological data. Those who join contribute directly to generating scientific knowledge about one of the least studied and most threatened ecosystems in the country.

For students of biology, forestry, ecology, and related disciplines, Puyu Sacha offers a hands-on learning environment that is difficult to replicate: internationally standardised methodologies, guidance from researchers with long experience in the area, and the opportunity to develop a thesis using original data from a high-diversity forest.

We have field facilities within the reserve. Stays are arranged in advance according to the season and to ongoing projects.

Corporate Support

Companies can support Puyu Sacha through corporate social responsibility programmes focused on biodiversity conservation and climate action.

Montane cloud forests perform functions that reach far beyond their boundaries: they capture and store carbon, regulate the water regime of the watersheds that supply communities downstream, and harbour biological diversity found nowhere else. Investing in their protection is among the most efficient forms of climate action available.

Corporate support can be directed towards territorial protection, funding for scientific research, ecological restoration programmes, or environmental education initiatives in the Chanchamayo valley.

We work with our corporate partners on the basis of verifiable results. We document and report the use and impact of every contribution, so that companies can substantiate their environmental commitment with concrete evidence rather than general statements
