The Full Story
About
Puyu Sacha is a privately managed cloud forest reserve located in the Andean-Amazon region of central Peru. Nestled along the eastern slopes of the Andes, the reserve protects a biologically rich ecosystem characterized by high species diversity, endemic flora, and emblematic wildlife.
Shaped by constant mist, altitudinal gradients, and complex ecological processes, this montane forest represents one of Peru’s most valuable natural landscapes. Puyu Sacha is dedicated to preserving its biodiversity through science-based management, responsible stewardship, and long-term ecological planning.
More than a protected area, Puyu Sacha is a living conservation landscape — where research, environmental responsibility, and controlled access coexist to safeguard ecological resilience for future generations.

Mission
To protect and manage the biodiversity and ecological integrity of the Puyu Sacha cloud forest through science-based conservation, responsible environmental governance, technological innovation, and sustainable engagement.
Our mission is to ensure that habitat protection, biodiversity documentation, and long-term ecological resilience remain at the core of all activities within the reserve.
Vision
To be recognized as a leading conservation-driven cloud forest sanctuary in Peru — a scientifically supported and sustainably managed ecosystem that contributes to biodiversity protection, climate resilience, and environmental knowledge at national and international levels.

Ecological Integrity
A forest cannot be conserved in fragments. We protect the full gradient — from canopy to soil, from 1,800 to 3,000 metres — because the life it holds depends on that continuity.
Knowledge as Foundation
We cannot conserve what we do not understand. Every decision rests on evidence: measured plots, identified species, data open to scrutiny.
Permanence
A forest is measured in decades, not project cycles. We hold a long-term commitment, with trees tagged twenty years ago that we still measure today.
Collaboration
No forest is saved alone. We work alongside universities, researchers, institutions, and the communities of the valley, because conservation is shared work.
Transparency
What we learn, we share. We publish our data and findings so that others can use them, question them, and build on them.
